Ramp position illustration

In the ramp position, the patient's head and torso are elevated such that the external auditory meatus and the sternal notch are horizontally aligned (black line). This position allows for a better view of the glottis in patients with obesity and should be used unless there are contraindications (eg, possible cervical spine injury).
