Osteomyelitis lumbar spine on T1-weighted MRI

A T1-weighted image of the lumbar spine (A) shows decreased signal intensity of the vertebral bodies (arrows) and loss of endplate definition (arrowhead). Image B is a magnified view of the ill-defined low intensity disc (arrowhead). There is poor definition of the disc with the low intensity end plates (arrows).
