Surface electron microscopy of plantar skin

Surface electron microscopy of plantar skin
On the undersurface of the epidermis, 2 kinds of main longitudinal ridges, the crista profunda limitans and the crista profunda intermedia, are observed as parallel rows. Eccrine ducts are recognized as tube-like projections from the crista profunda intermedia. The short transverse ridges are also detected, bridging the main longitudinal ridges.
