Suture closure of auricular hematoma drainage site

Appose the skin and perichondrial flap to the underlying cartilage using 5-0 absorbable (eg, Monocryl or fast-absorbing gut) or nonabsorbable (eg, nylon) suture by placing mattress stitches through and through the cartilage. leave a small area open to drain.
