Blunt thoracic aortic injury with hemothorax
The CT scan of the proximal descending aorta demonstrates a focal traumatic tear. The site of the tear can be seen (arrow in A). There is a large left hemothorax (arrow in B). A magnified view of the CT scan demonstrates the site of the rupture (dashed arrow in C) with the associated mediastinal hematoma (arrow in C) and hemothorax (arrowhead in C). An overlay (D) demonstrates the findings, highlighting the pseudoaneurysm (light red), hematoma (maroon), and hemothorax (bright red).
