Suspect the presence of bipolar disorder in a child with ADHD if: |

NOTE: A child may have both ADHD and bipolar disorder. In addition, the above noted clinical situations may also be due to other psychiatric disorders (eg, unipolar depression or substance abuse), medical problems (eg, thyroid problems, seizures, or tumors), use of medications (eg, prednisone), and environmental stressors (eg, family conflict, chaotic environment, or sexual or physical abuse) that may coexist with ADHD. |
