Plain radiograph of thoracic compression fractures and kyphosis

Plain radiograph of thoracic compression fractures and kyphosis
Thoracic spine radiographs, including AP (A) and lateral (B) views, of a 55-year-old female who fell and presented with back pain show a compression fracture of T5 (arrows) with about 70% loss of height of the vertebral body. A second compression fracture of T7 (arrowheads) has resulted in about a 15% loss of height of the vertebral body. The fractures can only be appreciated on the lateral examination. A kyphosis of the thoracic spine of about 30 degrees is noted. Associated findings include mild osteopenia.
