Demonstrate great maturity as they take on more responsibilities at home |
Are aware of the dangers associated with deployment and ways in which their lives are changed as a result of parental deployment |
Feel as if they serve and sacrifice for their country and incorporate this concept positively into their sense of identity |
Report that deployment changes daily routines, requiring sacrifice of extracurricular activities or programs because of transportation issues or financial limitations |
Report behavior changes such as decreasing school performance and symptoms consistent with depression |
Tend to feel isolated with respect to their family deployment situation |
Demonstrate enhanced resiliency when they feel well connected and supported |
Are wary of the type of support offered by others and quick to detect instances of insincerity |
Have a great deal of access to their deployed family member through email or phone contact |
Feel the media do not report war-related events accurately |
