Broth microdilution antimicrobial susceptibility testing

Broth microdilution antimicrobial susceptibility testing
Commercially prepared serial dilutions of commonly used antimicrobials are added to a 96-well plate. After incubation with a standardized inoculum of a bacterial isolate, minimum inhibitory concentrations are determined and classified as susceptible, intermediate, or resistant based on the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI), the European Committee on Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing (EUCAST), or United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) breakpoints.
