Ruptured papillary muscle after a myocardial infarction

Long axis view from a two-dimensional echocardiogram shows a flail anterior mitral valve leaflet resulting in mitral regurgitation. Part of the papillary muscle is attached to the leaflet, seen as an echodense mobile mass.
