Intermediate power photomicrograph showing a combination of air space filling and interstitial thickening in a patient with chronic eosinophilic pneumonia. The air space exudate is a combination of histiocytes and eosinophils. A similar inflammatory infiltrate is responsible for the associated alveolar septal thickening.
