Physiologic progression of lower-extremity alignment

Physiologic progression of lower-extremity alignment
Lower-extremity alignment goes through a predictable progression over the first seven years of life: from varus (bow-legs) between birth and approximately 18 months, to neutral alignment between approximately 18 and 24 months, to valgus (knock-knees), and, finally, back towards neutral. Adult lower extremity alignment is slight valgus.
