Shortened mesenteric attachment

Mesenteric fixation in malrotation. Most anomalies of rotation result in an abnormally narrow mesenteric base (demonstrated by the thick dashed line). The suspension of the midgut on this narrow vascular pedical increases the risk of volvulus.
