Posterior bone biopsy approach

Posterior bone biopsy approach
The CT-guided needle biopsy of this osteosarcoma was performed using a posterior approach. Although targeting the lytic soft tissue component (arrow) for sampling was appropriate, the posterior needle track would have been difficult to excise with the specimen and could theoretically have compromised the surgery. In this case, however, amputation was performed.
CT: computed tomography.
