Corneal ulceration in vernal keratoconjunctivitis

Corneal epithelial ulceration in vernal keratoconjunctivitis (VKC) is sometimes referred to as a "shield ulcer" because of the appearance of the epithelial breakdown. These ulcers can be quite resistant to therapy.
