Fetus with congenital pulmonary airway malformation with pleural effusion

Fetus with congenital pulmonary airway malformation with pleural effusion
CPAM at 23 weeks of gestation with small pleural effusion.
(A) Ultrasound image demonstrates a small left pleural effusion (arrow) adjacent to an echogenic mass.
(B) Coronal T2w MRI confirms the presence of a small pleural effusion (dashed arrow) adjacent to a left lower lobe heterogeneous high T2w signal mass.
(C) The effusion (short arrow) continued to increase and by 28 weeks of gestation required pleural drainage.
CPAM: congenital pulmonary airway malformation; T2w: T2-weighted (pulse); MRI: magnetic resonance imaging.
