The recording of the transmitral diastolic inflow (panel B) is obtained by placing the Doppler sample volume between the tips of the open mitral valve leaflets, as shown in panel A. The most commonly measured values are given in tabular format (panel C) and the site of the pulsed wave Doppler sample volume is shown in the upper left panel.
