Test for de Quervain tendinopathy

Test for de Quervain tendinopathy
The maneuver shown above is used to assess for de Quervain tendinopathy. To perform the test, the examiner gently rotates the patient's wrist ulnarly (arrow) while the patient's fingers are folded over the thumb. While often referred to as the Finkelstein test, this maneuver is actually a variant called the Eichhoff test. The Finkelstein test involves a simple passive or active stretch of the extensor tendons and may be more accurate.
