Langerhans cell histiocytosis of bone

This section from a thoracic CT scan shows a solitary osteolytic lesion of the sternum (arrow) with sclerotic margins (arrowhead) in a 38-year-old woman presenting with chest pain. A bone scan was positive in this area, as well. The resected surgical specimen showed Langerhans cell histiocytosis.
