Intraabdominal umbilical vein varix

Intraabdominal umbilical vein varix
(A) Sagittal view of the fetal abdomen at 27 weeks of gestation shows a larger than expected portion of the intraabdominal umbilical vein as it enters the abdomen. The intra-abdominal umbilical vein is dilated throughout most of its course and measures 14 mm at its greatest diameter. Panel (B) shows the vascular nature of the mass. Panel (C) shows the three-dimensional angio-sonography at 35 weeks of gestation. The asterisks denote the varix and the arrows denote the normal nondilated portion of the umbilical vein.
