Caustic strictures of the esophagus

Caustic strictures of the esophagus
This 17-year-old patient presented with recurrent dysphagia after ingesting an unknown quantity of pine oil solvent and sodium hydroxide six weeks prior. Endoscopic evaluation noted multiple strictures and edema. Inital direct laryngoscopy one day after ingestion had been unremarkable.
