The vestibular system

The vestibular system
Deep inside the ear, there is a small network of tubes that are filled with fluid, called the "semicircular canals." Also deep inside the ear are special calcium deposits, called "otolith organs." These tubes and deposits are part of the "vestibular system." This system tells the brain what position the head is in and if it is moving or still. It also helps keep you balanced, especially when you are standing or walking.
