Hepatic resection

The dissection plane is identified with the aid of intraoperative ultrasound and marked on the surface with electrocautery (white line). Vertical mattress sutures are placed into the liver tissue on either side of the dissection plane to compress the liver parenchyma and minimize bleeding. Resection is started at the inferior margin edge of the liver.
