Membranous VSD with apposed "aneurysm" tissue is demonstrated in still frames obtained from long-axis imaging planes. Movie clip from a study of the same patient shows the defect in an apical four-chamber view. The color flow jet of residual flow across the VSD is seen exiting into the right ventricle beneath the apposed septal leaflet of the tricuspid valve. The adherent tissue limits flow into the right ventricle, occluding a portion of the defect.
VSD: ventricular septal defect; LV: left ventricle; LA: left atrium; RV: right ventricle; AO: aorta; MV: mitral valve; arrows; VSD.
