ANSWER — Incorrect.

In the past, pregnant women were instructed to consume a hypercaloric diet to increase their weight by 20 to 25 pounds regardless of the prepregnancy weight. Women with obesity need not have a hypercaloric diet during pregnancy. Their endogenous energy reserves are satisfactory to support the energy requirements of the growing fetus.
