Scalpel-finger-bougie cricothyrotomy: Step 4: Pass the tracheal tube over the bougie into the trachea

A 6 mm endotracheal tube is passed over the bougie and advanced into the trachea while maintaining control of the bougie with the other hand. Advance the tube about 6 to 8 cm beyond the cricothyroid membrane space, which would place it mid-trachea in most adults.
