Negative pressure wound therapy

Negative pressure wound therapy ("NPWT") is a special kind of dressing. A piece of foam is placed in the wound and covered with the dressing. Thin tubing connects the dressing to the NPWT machine. The machine creates a suction or vacuum that pulls fluid out of the wound (arrows) and helps it heal.
