Dural-based metastasis from breast cancer

Dural-based metastasis from breast cancer
Biopsy-proven, dural-based breast cancer brain metastasis. Pre- (A) and postcontrast (B, C) T1-weighted MRIs show an enhancing, dural-based lesion in left frontal lobe. Note enhancement of adjacent dura (arrows). A relatively large amount of hyperintense vasogenic edema is associated with this lesion on FLAIR MRI (D), but even this sign does not definitively distinguish dural-based metastasis from the much more common meningioma.
MRI: magnetic resonance imaging; FLAIR: fluid-attenuated inversion recovery.
