Classic pattern of myocardial injury and recovery following cardiac surgical procedures

Cardiac function typically deteriorates in the first hours following the procedure. Preload optimization and/or inotropic support are often required during this initial phase. This trend usually begins to reverse within 6 to 12 hours of the patient's arrival in the ICU.
