Prone ventilation for relief of basilar atelectasis in the brain-dead donor

(A) Before prone ventilation: bilateral lower lobe atelectasis with hypoxemia (PaO₂/FiO₂ = 105 mmHg).
(B) After 12 hours of prone ventilation: resolution of atelectasis and hypoxemia, re-expansion of lower lobes (PaO₂/FiO₂ = 452 mmHg).
