Algorithm on the diagnostic differentiation of psychosis*
* Presence of psychosis (defined as the presence of delusions, hallucinations, disorganized speech or behavior, or impaired reality testing) meets all four of the following criteria:
Not due to an underlying medical condition.
Not due to medication or other substance.
Not culturally sanctioned.
Not a pervasive pattern of distrust, suspiciousness, or perceptual disturbances or behavior eccentricities beginning in early adulthood and present in a variety of contexts.
¶ Symptoms: Prodromal, residual, and attenuated psychotic symptoms count towards the duration of psychotic symptomatology.
Δ Or ≥1 psychotic symptom if negative symptoms are present.
