Complicated febrile episode in a child with non-chemotherapy-induced neutropenia is defined by one or more of the following associated findings: |

- Gastrointestinal symptoms:
- Abdominal pain
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Diarrhea
|
- New-onset neurologic signs or mental status changes
|
- Intravascular catheter infection (especially catheter tunnel infection)
|
- Underlying chronic lung disease
|
- New pulmonary infiltrate or hypoxemia
|
- Skin or soft tissue infection at any site
|
- Sinus tenderness or other findings of upper respiratory tract infection
|
