SVS/STS classification of aortic dissection by zone^[1]

The figure illustrates the zones of the aorta, which can be used to classify aortic dissection. In this example the dissection originates in zone 3 (type B aortic dissection), and terminates in zone 9. An aortic dissection originating in zone 0 would be a type A aortic dissection.
