INTERMACS adverse event definition of right heart failure
Documentation of elevated CVP by:
  • Direct right atrial pressures >16 mmHg
  • Significantly dilated inferior vena cava with absence of inspiratory variation by echocardiography
  • Clinical findings of elevated jugular venous distention in an upright patient
Manifestation of elevated CVP characterized by:
  • Clinical findings of peripheral edema (≥2+)
  • Ascites or palpable hepatomegaly on physical exam or diagnostic imaging
  • Laboratory evidence of worsening of hepatic (total bilirubin >2.0 mg/dL) or renal dysfunction (creatinine 2.0 mg/dL)
CVP: central venous pressure.
