MRI findings in transient global amnesia

MRI findings in transient global amnesia

A focus of marked restricted diffusion in the lateral portion of the body of the left hippocampus, measuring approximately 5 mm.

(A) DWI sequence with a b value of 1000 s/mm2 and a slice thickness of 5 mm.

(B) Apparent diffusion coefficient map.

(C) DWI sequence with a b value of 2000 s/mm2 and a slice thickness of 3 mm.

(D) Coronal DWI sequence of the hippocampus with a b value of 2000 s/mm2 and a slice thickness of 3 mm.

(E) T2-weighted sequence showing an edema-like focus with a hyperintense signal.
DWI: diffusion-weighted imaging; MRI: magnetic resonance imaging.
