Insertional Achilles tendinopathy seen on ultrasound and plain radiograph

The ultrasound long-view image and the lateral-view plain radiograph above show calcific changes at the Achilles tendon insertion (asterisks) consistent with a diagnosis of enthesopathy. Although the tendon itself is thickened, the fibers are continuous and intact.
