Single-leg shallow knee bend exercise

Single-leg shallow knee bend exercise
The patient stands on the affected leg and then slowly bends their knee to 20 degrees flexion by sitting back rather than bending the knee forward and then returns to the starting position. Moving the hips posteriorly to initiate knee flexion prevents the knee from extending beyond the toes and causes this exercise to recruit the gluteus medius primarily, rather than the quadriceps.
