Ultrasound image of the gastric antrum in the solid late stage 1 to 2 hours after meal consumption

Ultrasound image of the gastric antrum in the solid late stage 1 to 2 hours after meal consumption
Approximately one to two hours after consumption of a solid meal, ultrasound imaging of the gastric antrum shows heterogeneous, particulate content. Homogeneous hyperechoic content is characteristic of dairy products or particulate fluids. If milk has been ingested, a biphasic (hyperechoic/hypoechoic) appearance may be evident due to curdle formation.
