BSS Plus: Use an administration set with an air-inlet in the plastic spike (bottle does not contain separate airway tube). Allow fluid to freely flow to remove air from the tubing prior to irrigation. If a second bottle of reconstituted BSS Plus is needed to complete a surgical procedure, vent vacuum in the second bottle prior to attachment to the administration set.

BSS: Attach surgeon’s sterile irrigating needle to adapter plug. Squeeze out several drops before inserting into anterior eye chamber. Remove needle from anterior eye chamber before releasing pressure to prevent suction. External irrigation may be done without irrigating needle. Discard any unused portion.
BSS Plus: Use an administration set with an air inlet in the plastic spike (bottle does not contain separate airway tube). Allow fluid to freely flow to remove air from the tubing prior to irrigation. If a second bottle of reconstituted BSS Plus is needed to complete a surgical procedure, vent vacuum in the second bottle prior to attachment to the administration set. Discard any unused portion within 6 hours of preparation.
Store at 2°C to 25°C (36°F to 77°F); do not freeze.
