Diagnostic criteria* for rumination syndrome
Must include all of the following:
  1. Repeated regurgitation and rechewing or expulsion of food that:
  1. Begins soon after ingestion of a meal
  1. Does not occur during sleep
  1. Not preceded by retching
  1. After appropriate evaluation, the symptoms cannot be fully explained by another medical condition. An eating disorder must be ruled out.
*Criteria fulfilled for at least 2 months before diagnosis.
