Popliteal vein thrombosis
A cross-sectional B-mode ultrasound of the popliteal fossa (A) shows a distended, noncompressible, and low-echogenic popliteal vein, all indicative of an acute DVT. A sagittal venous duplex (B) also shows low echogenicity and reduced flow in the popliteal vein. Swelling affected in the patient's entire left lower extremity (C).
DVT: deep vein thrombosis.
