Posterior cephalocele

Posterior cephalocele
Sagittal view of a large posterior cephalocele at 19+1 weeks of gestation showing brain extending into the cephalocele sac (arrow). The head size is smaller than expected for gestational age and the forehead slopes due to lack of brain tissue in the expected location of the anterior portion of the brain. Normal survival is not possible given the cerebral dysgenesis involved in this example.
