CPB circuit for retrograde cerebral perfusion

CPB circuit for retrograde cerebral perfusion
Retrograde cerebral perfusion can be provided by modifying the CPB circuit. After the initiation of DHCA, clamps are placed in the arterial and venous lines (A and B), the inferior vena cava cannula is clamped (C), a snare is placed around the superior vena cava cannula (D), and the arterial-venous bridge is opened (E) to infuse cold oxygenated blood into the superior vena cava.
CPB: cardiopulmonary bypass; DHCA: deep hypothermic circulatory arrest.
