Reported Use
Control of extrapyramidal symptoms caused by neuroleptics and other similar medications; adjunctive treatment of all forms of Parkinsonism, especially to control symptoms of rigidity and tremor; treatment of nocturnal cramps; treatment of pyramidal spasticity.
Dosage Range
Oral:
Adults and Adolescents >15 years:
Immediate release: 1 to 16 mg/day given once daily or in divided doses (maximum: 18 mg/day).
Controlled release: 4 to 16 mg/day (maximum: 16 mg/day) in divided doses.
Children and Adolescents ≤15 years: Immediate release: 0.5 to 2 mg 1 to 6 times daily (maximum: 18 mg/day).
IM, IV:
Adults, Adolescents, and Children >10 years: 2.5 to 5 mg single dose; may repeat once after 30 minutes.
Children 6 to 10 years: ≤3 mg as a single dose; may repeat once after 30 minutes.
Children <6 years: ≤2 mg as a single dose; may repeat once after 30 minutes.
Infants: ≤1 mg as a single dose; may repeat once after 30 minutes.
