MRI of a right femoral neck stress fracture in a 38-year-old woman with right hip pain
Right femoral neck stress fracture in a 38-year-old woman with right hip pain.
(A) Coronal T1-weighted image (FSE 450/9) shows a low signal intensity region in the medial femoral neck with a very low signal intensity area immediately adjacent to the medial cortex.
(B) Coronal fat-saturated T2-weighted image (FSE 4300/90) shows matching high signal intensity bone marrow edema surrounding the low signal intensity stress fracture. The stress fracture was occult on conventional radiographs.
