(A) The position of thumb at approximately 45 degrees of displacement relative to the thumb metacarpal phalanx indicates volar plate ligament disruption with some preservation of collateral ligament function. (B) The post-reduction film shows normal alignment and no fracture. This patient received a thumb spica splint and subsequently did well.
