TEE measurement of LV end-diastolic diameter in the transgastric mid-papillary view in a patient with severe cardiomyopathy
Transgastric mid-papillary short-axis view of the LV in a patient with cardiomyopathy demonstrating severe LV enlargement (end-diastolic diameter 8 cm). In a patient with this baseline LV dilation, it is difficult to diagnose hypovolemia based on a single TEE measurement of LV cavity size.
TEE: transesophageal echocardiography; LV: left ventricle/left ventricular.
