Management of extracranial carotid artery aneurysm

TIA: transient ischemic attack.
* Imaging every six months after diagnosis, then if stable, annual surveillance.
¶ Open repair preferred for: Most true aneurysms, infected aneurysm, ruptured aneurysm. Endovascular repair may be preferred for: Pseudoaneurysm, distal internal carotid artery, prior neck surgery.
