Plagiocephaly is best viewed from the top of the child's head. Anterior plagiocephaly is caused by unilateral craniosynostosis (premature fusion) of the coronal suture. Posterior plagiocephaly is caused by unilateral craniosynostosis of the lambdoid suture. Deformational plagiocephaly is caused by positional deformation, which is associated with congenital torticollis.
