The chewing stick or “miswak� has demonstrated growth-inhibitory effects on several oral micro-organisms including Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori). This study explores the effect of miswak on oral H. pylori among fasting and non-fasting subjects.

Lonicera japonica flos, a well-known herbal medicine in Asian countries, has been widely used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes (T2D). The essential oils (EOs) extracted from the flowers and leaves of Ferulago macrocarpa (Fenzl) Boiss (F. macrocarpa) plant were traditionally used to treat bacterial and fungal infections in the people of Lorestan Province, Iran for several centuries. The present study aims to analyse the EOs of flower and leaf extracts of F. macrocarpa using Gas Chromatography/Mass-spectrometry (GC-MS) technique and investigate their antibacterial, antifungal and antiradical activities.

Parkinsonia aculeata L.
